Temple of Augustus
First-century Roman temple on the Forum, rebuilt after 1944 bomb damage, with a small sculpture display.
Forum, 52100 Pula, Pula, Croatia
The Temple of Augustus stands on the Forum, the Roman temple built in the first century AD and dedicated to the emperor Augustus and his wife Livia. A bomb in 1944 destroyed most of it, and the present building is a careful post-war reconstruction from the original stone. Inside is a small collection of Roman sculpture and inscriptions. Entry is about €2 for an adult. The drawback is that it is tiny: you are in and out in about fifteen minutes, and the interior holds little more than a handful of carved stones.
