Pula sits on a coast made for boats: islands to the north, cliffs to the south, and a string of sea caves you only reach from the water. A boat tour is the fastest way to see more than the beach you are standing on, and most leave from the harbour or from Fažana, 15 minutes north.

Brijuni archipelago cruise
The classic. Boats leave Fažana or Pula and circle the fourteen islands with a swim stop and often a glimpse of the safari park from the water. A circle-only cruise runs two to four hours and does not land on the main island, so it is cheaper than the official park excursion but gives you the coastline, not the Roman villa. Kamenjak and the cliffs
The wild southern tip, Cape Kamenjak, is all white cliff and hidden coves, and from the water it reads differently than from the gravel tracks. Boat trips down there usually include a stop at one of the cave coves for a snorkel. The water off Kamenjak is the clearest near the city. Sea caves, including the Blue Cave
Several operators run cave-focused trips, the most photographed being the Blue Cave on the nearby coast, where the light turns the water electric blue at the right hour. These are longer, often half a day, and the timing matters more than on a simple coastline cruise. Bring shoes for the rock entry and a proper snorkel mask if you have one.
Sunset sail
The gentle option. A few hours on a smaller boat with the city behind you and the harbour cranes lit at night, the Lighting Giants show, is the most Pula way to end a day. These suit people who do not want a packed itinerary, and they run later than the island trips.
