Summer is when Pula is fullest and hottest, and also when it is most alive. The Arena hosts concerts, the beaches fill by 10am, and the old town stays loud past midnight. It is a good time to come if you plan around it, and a difficult one if you do not.
The heat is the real boss
July and August days sit in the low 30s and the stone of the old town holds the warmth into the evening. Do the Roman sights before 10am or after 6pm. The Arena opens early, and Zerostrasse stays cool underground all day. Midday is for the water, not the streets.
Beaches fill early
The Verudela bays and Hawaii are effectively full by late morning in August. If you want space, go before 9 or after 5, or pick a cove that needs a walk. Book the concerts and the rooms
The Arena concert season runs through summer and the big names sell. Buy tickets before you fly, and book your room months ahead if August is your window, because the city is small and the stock is not. Parking is the other pinch: the centre zones fill, so read the parking guide and expect to pay for it.
The honest trade
