Verudela Peninsula (Resort Area)

Best for: Families, convenience, water sports, evening beach bars

Hawaii Beach (Plaža Hawaii)

The most popular one. Pebble beach, pine shade, three beach bars, pedal boats, jet ski, banana boat. Arrive before 9am for a good spot in July/August. Parking €2/hr.

Valovine (Valovine Beach)

Quieter neighbor to Hawaii. Rocky entry, clearer water, one beach bar. Great for snorkelling right off shore.

Gortanova Vala (Gortanova Vala)

One of the quietest coves near the city. Small bay near the airport, crystal water, excellent snorkelling (damselfish, wrasse, octopus). Zero facilities, bring water, snacks, sunshade. 20-min walk from Verudela or boat taxi.

City Center Beaches

Best for: Convenience, sunset drinks, combining with sightseeing

Valkane (Plaža Valkane)

Blue Flag, long pebble beach backed by pine forest (natural shade!). Beach volleyball, long promenade with cafes. Locals’ favorite. Bus 1/3 or 20-min walk from Forum.

Školjić (Školjić Beach)

Tiny cove below Kaštel fortress. Cafe on the rocks above the water. Gets packed by 11am. Great for a quick dip + drink.

Saccorgiana

Rocky, local vibe, less touristy. Near the marina. Good for morning swim before breakfast.

Premantura / Kamenjak National Park

Best for: Nature lovers, cliff jumping, crystal water, full-day adventure

Entry: €10/car (includes all beaches). Open 7am-8pm summer.

Top Kamenjak Spots:

  • Pinižule: Sandy (rare!), shallow, family-friendly
  • Njive: Long pebble beach, beach bar, windsurfing
  • Mala Kolombarica: Hidden cove, cliff jumps (5m & 8m)
  • Velika Kolombarica: Larger, snorkelling, sea caves nearby
