Verudela peninsula
Consider it for: Families, convenience, water sports and seasonal beach bars
Hawaii Beach (Plaža Hawaii)
A pebble beach with some pine shade and seasonal food, drink and water-sports services. It becomes busy during summer, so arrive earlier in the day and check current parking arrangements before setting out.
Valovine (Valovine Beach)
Valovine has a rocky entry and seasonal services. It can suit confident swimmers and snorkellers when sea conditions are calm.
Gortanova Vala (Gortanova Vala)
Gortanova Vala is a small bay with a rocky shoreline. Facilities are limited, so bring water, food and sun protection. Check the route before leaving because walking times depend on your starting point.
Beaches near the city centre
Consider them for: Combining a swim with time in or near the centre
Valkane (Plaža Valkane)
Valkane has a pebble shoreline, sections of shade, sports facilities and cafes along the promenade. Verify its current bathing-water status, public transport and designated swimming areas before visiting.
Školjić (Školjić Beach)
This small cove sits below Kaštel fortress, with a cafe nearby. Space is limited and demand can be high during summer.
Saccorgiana
Saccorgiana is a rocky option near the marina. Check the entry point and sea conditions before swimming.
Premantura and Cape Kamenjak
Consider it for: A full day of rocky coves, walking or cycling
Vehicle fees, opening times and access rules change by season. Confirm them on Cape Kamenjak’s official site before travelling.
Kamenjak beaches
- Pinižule: A sheltered bay with a gentler entry in places
- Njive: A longer pebble beach with seasonal services
- Mala Kolombarica: A rocky cove near exposed cliffs
- Velika Kolombarica: A larger rocky swimming and snorkelling area
- Polje: A less-developed section with limited facilities
Do not jump from cliffs without checking local restrictions, water depth and current sea conditions. Rock profiles and submerged hazards can change.
Cycling is one way to cover the gravel tracks, but check the current rental price and allow for heat, dust and limited shade.
Medulin area
Bijeca (Bijeca Beach)
Bijeca is known for a sandier, shallower entry than most beaches around Pula. It has a pedestrian promenade and seasonal facilities, but becomes busy in summer. Families should still assess water conditions and supervision on the day.
Belvedere
Belvedere has a pebble shoreline, some pine shade and a campsite nearby. Facilities and access vary seasonally.
